Introduced back in season 2, episode 8, titled Family, Philippa Eilhart (Cassie Clare) is the court mage for Redania and a polymorph, revealed to be the mysterious owl that caught everyone’s attention, and it’s here where her alliance with Dijkstra (Graham McTavish) is first made apparent.

Fast-forward to season 3’s Shaerrawedd and Philippa is keeping King Vizimir (Ed Birch) happy by overseeing Prince Radovid’s (Hugh Skinner) search for Ciri (Freya Allan). This leads her to interrogate Jaskier (Joey Batey) on her whereabouts and sets up the romantic connection between the bard and the prince in later episodes.

Unbound sees Philippa warm Dijkstra up to the idea that Prince Radovid may be a good ally to facilitate their independent plight for power. During a scene between Rience (Sam Woolf), Codringher (Simon Callow), and Fenn (Liz Carr), Philippa is present in her owl form and ends up following the mage through a portal which blurs the sorceress’ motives. It’s later revealed that Philippa and Dijkstra are not part of Rience’s Destroyer of Worlds’ plan, but Lydia (Aisha Fabienne Ross) and the mage are in league with Nilfgaard.

The final two episodes of season 3, part 1, titled The Invitation and The Art of the Illusion, saw Vizimir order Philippa and Dijkstra to attend the Conclave set up by Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and despite their previous opinion that attending the event was a waste of their time, the Conclave actually allowed them to expose Rience’s master, thus eliminating the threat. It also presented the opportunity for them to convince Geralt (Henry Cavill) and Yennefer that they should be working together to protect Ciri.

The sorceress and King Vizimir II’s advisor, Philippa Eilhart, appears in five of Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher books and all three of the video games from CD Projekt Red, flaunting her 300-year-old longevity in Redania and is identified by the scarf that covers her eyes.

Existing as a polymorph in the source material as well, Philippa accompanied the Brotherhood of Sorcerers to Lower Sodden during the First Northern War while they fought against the Nilfgaardian Army in the Battle of Sodden Hill. She also formed an alliance with Sigismund Dijkstra and interrogated Dandelion (known as Jaskier in the Netflix adaptation) on Geralt and Ciri’s whereabouts.

Philippa was later part of the Thanedd coup, where she ordered several Northern supporters to arrest those with traitorous ties to Nilfgaard during the Grand Mage’s Conclave. During the conflict, Philippa saved Ciri from Artaud Terranova and subsequently allowed her and Geralt to escape.

After this event, Philippa assisted in the Lodge of Sorceresses’ formation and subsequently became its leader, and she also orchestrated the assassination of King Vizimir II, which ignited Radovid V's hatred for mages. In 1270, however, she succumbed to the Witch Hunts, orchestrated by the zealot and magic hater Archpriest Willemer, and was tortured and killed by Willemer’s men.
