Yearning for a taste of nature? Head on over to these green spaces for a delightful picnic date with friends or family

Somewhere quiet, green, and peaceful—when we need to get away from the bustle of the city, it's always nice to have a space that's exactly like this. Those looking to enjoy a peaceful picnic can head to these nearby parks in Metro Manila and enjoy a day of picnicking with friends or family.

1. Ayala Triangle Garden

Isn't it amazing that at the heart of the central business district lies a quiet, peaceful park to relax in? A popular choice for late afternoon joggers and picnickers, Ayala Triangle is a fantastic way to destress in the middle of a busy work day. There's plenty of lush green grass to sit on, trees to gaze upon, and even unique plants to admire. Though there are no more of the familiar restaurants we loved in Ayala Triangle, it's still a fantastic option for those looking to enjoy a (takeout) meal outdoors.

2. Pinaglabanan Shrine

A quiet park located in San Juan City, Pinaglabanan Shrine is home to a beautiful Eduardo Castrillo sculpture. There are also a handful of historical sites nearby, from a museum dedicated to Andres Bonifacio, and even the underground water reservoir, El Deposito. But most people love this peaceful green space because of the wide open spaces and the beautiful fire trees that surround the area. It's a fantastic choice for people to go to when looking to take a quick stroll or a leisurely picnic.

3. Sunken Garden

Many memories are made at the University of the Philippines Diliman. One of the best places to relax around the public campus is the Sunken Garden, a wide-open area that welcomes everyone who cares to visit. Students, joggers, and community members flock to the area for a taste of nature and some street food. The university also hosts its fair at the Sunken Garden every year, welcoming bands, singers, street food vendors, and students to enjoy a night in UP.

4. Track 30th

Located in BGC, Track 30th has become a popular fitness area for those living nearby. You'll constantly see people jogging around the tracks, walking their dogs, or even doing callisthenics. Of course, this open green space is also free for other activities such as people-watching or picnicking. Order some takeout from the delicious cafes or restaurants nearby to enjoy on benches or on the grass.

5. Washington Sycip Park

There are lots to enjoy in Washington Sycip Park. Tucked away in Legazpi Village, this little haven of greenery boasts plenty of artwork and even a Japanese garden. Enjoy the shade provided by arborous canopies, or take a walk to view the installations around its walking trails. Afterwards, settle down on the green grass, enjoy a nice cold beer, and picnic. You'll completely forget all the noise and chaos that Makati is usually so (in)famous for.

6. Plaza Moriones

Located in the historic district of Intramuros, Plaza Moriones is a popular hangout spot for plenty of Manileños. Not only are there wide open spaces, but there's also plenty of history to see nearby. Enjoy a beautiful sunset picnic and bask in the warm glow of the plaza's many street lights. It will remind you of a more romantic period, no doubt.

7. Jaime C Velasquez Park

Known for hosting the Salcedo Saturday Market and Art in the Park, the Jaime C Velasquez Park is a gem in the midst of Salcedo Village. It's very child friendly and even has a playground for young kids. Enjoy a leisurely walk, sit at its surrounding benches, or better yet, enjoy a picnic around these beautiful grounds for a relaxing weekday (or weekend) afternoon.
